Well Hello There Spring!
We’ve been waiting for you!!!!
That sunshine. (Oh yea!)
Those birds singing. (Ahhh)
Your brilliant blue skies! (swoon)
Everything feels so fresh and new! You make us want to sing in a mountain-top meadow, like Maria VonTrapp. Well, okay…maybe we just want to put on our favorite tunes and clean our closets.
The truth, Dear Spring, is that your hopeful, shiny energy inspires us to refresh, restore, and renew everything around us. All the things!
But, its been a heck of a year…and what we really need is to tend to ourselves, more than ever.
If YOU are in need of some Serious Spring Self-Care.…keep reading. I’ve got some ideas!
Here are 10 Ideas to Rest and Restore This Spring
Self-care shouldn’t happen just once a season! And it doesn’t have to cost you bag-loads of money. There are simple things you can do at home, on vacation, or in a few quiet moments in your day. I’ve cultivated a list of TEN free and easy things to do to tend to your body, mind, and spirit.
Happy Spring!
#1 Write it down.
Spring is a great time to treat yourself to a new notebook and some fancy pens, and get writing!
No to-do lists or plans…just let go and let it flow.
Spend 10-20 minutes letting your thoughts and feelings pour onto the pages.
#2 Log Off. Shut down. Get out.
It’s hard to hold on to the winter doldrums when you get outside and see your surroundings coming back to life. Make daily time outside a priority in your schedule.
- Take a walk
- Sit outside and pay attention to your senses…..what do you hear, smell, see?
- Bring your favorite hobby out of doors….read, draw,or listen to music while taking in some fresh air.
#3 Create something.
“To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.” ~ Joseph Chilton Pearce
- Try painting….big or small, inside our outdoors, any medium. Just grab a brush and paint!
- Plant a little container garden.
- Do a little DIY – rehab a piece of old furniture, build a deck, or make a bird feeder.
- Start a sketch book and do a doodle, or 2…or 100.
- Organize your pantry or redesign your closet.
- Write a poem.
- Sing, play an instrument, or dance to your best jams.
- Knit one, Pearl two….or crochet, sew, weave, macrame… Fiber arts are fun.
- Try a few language lessons. (amo imparare l’italiano)
- Arrange flowers – How about a fresh spring bouquet?
- Up-cycle some old clothes into a new outfit.
- Create your own recipe and bake for someone you love (or yourself).
- Write a short story (read Bird by Bird, by Anne Lamott for some inspiration).
#4 Get cozy and take a nap.
Napping isn’t just for BABIES!
- help your brains process complex information
- preserve your memories
- improve your mood
- reduce stress
- increase productivity
- boost energy better than an espresso!
#5 Spring Clean Your Closet ...AND your life!
Spring cleaning feels so good but clearing clutter isn’t just for your space. Sure, you can tidy up your cabinets, your desk, your car….but Spring is also the perfect time to purge and organize your daily habits and routines as well.
What things still “fit” your current needs? What do you love? What can you get rid of or update?
Spend an afternoon or even a few minutes over several days and create an inspiring space, routine, and habits that inspire you!

#6 Picture it.
Got a ton of pictures on your phone? Why not get a fresh start this spring?
There are plenty of apps, and websites where you can turn those photos into memory books, videos, photo journals, or art.
Make a little bit of time each day to go through and choose your favorites – create something with them — and purge the ones you no longer need!
Less digital clutter = less stress and a happier YOU!
#7 Dig into a new book.
No need to explain this one….
You already know that Spring Break is the perfect time for a new book. Check these out:
- Flourish by Martin Seligmam
- Atomic Habits by James Clear
- The Hill We Climb and Other Poems by Amanda Gorman
- You are A Badass – How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living and Awesome Life by Jen Sincero

Once you have a list of your faves, make sure to place them high on your to-do list, once life gets busy again.
Yes, you can PLAN YOUR HAPPY.
#9 Start up a new goal.
It could be time to start a new goal.
(I know what you’re thinking…”But I am on break! That’s the LAST thing I want to think about!”)
You are right….and you SO deserve this time off. No lesson plans, no emails, no Zoom meetings!
But, consider this….If you have been in a slump, feeling overwhelmed or just exhausted – the excitement of a fresh goal can help.
Action creates motivation! Get planning and get pumped up! You’ve got this.
#10 Challenge yourself.
